Stack the odds in your favor

Welcome to our scouting family, where your success is our top priority! We're here to help you find success in the outdoors and make the most of your tags.

Helping DIY Hunters

Here at Wild Scouting, we used a wide array of tools and knowledge to assist you in having a successful trip. Using our deep understanding of the land, historical database tools, the latest in satellite imagery, weather forecasting, migration patterns, and good old fashioned elbow grease to put boots on the ground giving you the most accurate and recent intel that will increase your effectiveness. Our data collecting will help you work smarter, not harder - eliminating the need to overpower nature and outsmart it instead.
Scouts have been a pivotal part of our nation’s history and the evolution of man. Early man used them to secure and track food sources, the military used them to conquer the west, and now you too can use them to help conquer your goals. Harnessing the ancient knowledge of the first scouts passed down through Apache elders, we track and pattern animals to give you the intel necessary to find success. We use non invasive tactics to observe nature from a distance, like a fly on the wall. We limit our presence in bedding areas, do our best to never spook animals, and leave no trace behind (minus some boot prints). Always remember to pack it out! Follow us on social media to see our scout’s daily cleanups and enjoy nature’s beauty.

 FAQs

  • Traditional scouting

Throughout history, nations have used scouts to gain knowledge about the world around them. First Nations scouts were the eyes and ears of their people. Leading them to the best hunting, gathering, and camping grounds. Keeping the tribe away from danger. Masters of the wilderness, who lived in total harmony with the land. They moved as shadows, mastering camouflage and stalking to a point of invisibility. And most of all, they were the best trackers. They could glance at a track and read into the maker’s very soul, like a window to the past. This is why we require all of our scouts to learn the ancient teachings passed down the vast lineage of scouts, through Apache elder Stalking Wolf.

    Modern scouting

Advancements in technology have enabled today’s scouts to asses a wide array of variables without ever stepping foot in the field. Satellite imagery helps outdoorsmen formulate plans of attack by avoiding high pressure areas and pinpoint the pockets likely holding the desired target. Other tools like weather forecasting, burn history, and logging data can be pieced together to predict animal movements and tell you the best place to find success.

  • The simple answer: stacking the odds in your favor! It wouldn’t be called hunting if success was guaranteed every time we stepped out in the woods. Having valuable intel on the current conditions of your hunting unit can help drastically. Pair that with local and historical knowledge tools and using the latest in mapping and forecasting advancements.

Mountain weather systems. We all know how fast the weather can change in the mountains, so even with all the advancements in weather monitoring technology, there’s only one way to know what the weather is doing in the mountains - be there.

Maybe you know the area like the back of your hand. Even know the animals in there and are going back for “the one that got away.” What if someone killed it the week before you get there? Get a report of the pressure in the area by sending in a scout to observe.

Pressure assessment. There are weather, fire, and logging mapping softwares, but nothing monitors hunter and recreational pressure. The only way to know if the elk in your unit are being pressured is to have boots on the ground.

Unfamiliar with the area. Speed up your learning time by sending a scout in to get a lay of the land for you. After the debriefing you’ll feel like you’ve already been there.

Overgrown unit. Units often can have too much tree coverage to effectively glass for animals. In these areas, it requires extensive boots on the ground to inspect likely areas with the naked eye.

Recent burn. Not sure if your unit was affected or how bad it was burnt? Send us in to confirm and help you make the right plans to capitalize no the recent wildfires.

Don’t have the tech. Not everyone is tech savvy enough to operate the latest and greatest mapping softwares. Maybe you don’t want to subscribe to all the different platforms. We pay for and use all of them so that you can have the best technology assisting you to reach your goals.

Different time of year. Early or late season and not sure where they’ll be? Not sure what the conditions are like? Is there a food and water source still available?

Don’t have the time. We are all limited by time constraints. Whether it’s from work, family, or other hunts and trips. Sometimes you’re simply too busy and don’t have extra time to scout ahead of your trip. Only so much PTO time to burn. Book us ahead of time and we’ll have all the time in the world to dedicate towards your scouting.

Can’t go home empty handed. Have you told everyone about your trip coming up? Are your family and friends depending on you to come home with meat? Tired of not having success?

Don’t waste time. Sure we can all go out there and wing-it. But we can help keep you on track and focused to make the most of your time in the woods. Sticking to the basics and working through a methodical process is one of the most important aspects to finding and harvesting your target species. We will help you formulate a plan and stick to it, no matter what mother nature throws at you.
